The 2026 release of Schwanengesang brings to a close an Australian-first recording project. Ten years in the making, and inspired in part by my PhD research into historical recordings and 19th century vocal practices, this collaboration with ABC Classics has now completed the set: all three of Franz Schubert’s great song cycles for baritone and piano — Winterreise, Die schöne Müllerin, and now his posthumous cycle Schwanengesang.
